Gay marriage skyrim
It may be 10 years since The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim was first released by Bethesda, but fans of the high-fantasy game still haven’t lost their love for the game. After all, Skyrim not only opened up a new world for players, but it offered gay fans to experience relationship options in a time where video games weren’t as open as they are now about including them.
With that in consciousness, the question of ‘can you be gay in Skyrim?’ seems like it’s already been answered. Yes, yes you can be very gay in Skyrim. Well, if you call becoming a vampire and romancing a werewolf and you’re both girls pretty gay, then yes, it’s off the charts.
But there’s more to Skyrim and homosexuality than just a tick of the box of ‘yes’. And it all comes down to what, being gay as a player means and how that’s reflected in gameplay. So, without further ado…
Can you be gay in Skyrim?

Bethesda vice president Pete Hines confirmed that there will be an option for same-sex marriage in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Replying to a fan on Twitter, Hines wrote, “Not making a huge deal out of it. You can marry anyone.” Some of you will recall that some BioWare fans were not pleased with the lesbian romance options in Dragon Age II. I’m curious to observe if Skyrim will elicit a similar reaction.
I love that this is an option in the game. It is, after all, role-playing. I think it’s amazing that homosexual gamers have an option to play as a character that reflects their lifestyle. Same-sex marriages happen all over the world and it’s fantastic that a videogame reflects current society. I’m sure Bethesda will get some unnecessary heat for having same-sex marriage in a videogame…and I’m sure a lot of it will be based on stupidity.
What do you reflect about same-sex marriages in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?

One would expect the usual response, the sort of silliness that was leveled against the really-actually-very-Christian Harry Potterbooks. Some blogger, somewhere, would get mad about it. Pat Robertson would say something. I express, Pat never misses an opportunity, right? The Family Research Council would surely issue a stern missive.
But there's been nothing. Nothing at all.
