Looking for lgbtq+ expats living in Panama

@medicparken  We've lived in Panama since 2019 and are both retired. We're city boys (lived in Chicago for decades) and ring Panama City abode. My husband and I were one of the four couples with marriage equality cases before the Panamanian Supreme Court of Justice. The court decided against us last year, but the case has been filed with the Interamerican Commission on Human Rights in Washington, which will decide if the case goes before the Interamerican Court of Human Rights in Costa Rica. This may seize years. I say you this because we have been relatively high profile on social media and on TV because of that. We have faced online hate, but have never faced discrimination or verbal abuse in person. We had no issues looking at any apartments and had no trouble buying, other than we believe that the bank we looked at for a mortgage dragged their feet because we were a gay couple. We eventually told them to pound sand and we paid cash.

Here are a few thoughts:

Attitudes in Panama own improved quite a bit in the past few years, with support increasing for guarantees of equal rights and marriage equality. Among young people, existence ga

The Right to Protest

Panama Urban area has become more tolerant of Homosexual life over the last 10 years, and is now a place that same-sex couples will enjoy visiting. It’s not necessarily a place where you will see couples holding hands in public nor is same-sex marriage legal, but this hasn’t stopped a formidable queer community of locals and foreigners to be out and proud! There is now a huge yearly movement parade that takes place in Casco Viejo, lots of gay-friendly establishments, and overall so many unique experiences to have in Panama.

Does Panama City include a gay neighborhood?

Via Argentina is the unofficial “gayborhood” in Panama City. It’s not super queer, but is the most funky neighborhood in Panama Capital so you uncover a little bit of everything here. The main road of Via Argentina has several cafés, bakeries, small bars, and a park to keep a visitor entertained, so it can be a great option for peopl

If you have not yet been to Panama it is an absolute must. We only spent ten days in Panama and were pleasantly surprised to find gay owned hotels (like this luxury boutique in Bocas Del Toro) and a great queer scene in the Panama City itself.

We met up with Roberto Broce in Panama City to detect our more about ‘gay Panama’ and find out if Panama is queer friendly.

Who is Roberto? ‘Hi! My name’s Roberto Broce, I’m 26 years ancient and I work as a marketing analyst for the Innovation Centre of a foundation here in Panama called Ciudad del Saber. I’ve been travelling for 10 years living in almost every continent around the world, partaking in several social causes in places like China and Australia. I favor kitesurfing, astronomy, and adventure travelling. !”

Based on our discussion, we have set together the below mini gay travel guide to Panama
