Gay 'lifelong Democrat' who voted Trump opens up on what's happened to him since coming out as pro MAGA

A 'lifelong Democrat' who voted for Trump has pulled endorse the curtains on what it is like to be a gay guy who came out as pro-MAGA.

Writer, animation coach and motivational speaker Jordan Bach, 37, has chronicled his right wing debut on social media, sharing his thought processes as someone whose political views have drastically shifted.

'I’m a homosexual guy who’s left the Left,' Bach declared on X before the election, captioning a photo of him sporting a Trump-Vance hat. 'A lifelong Democrat—not anymore. I'm voting for Donald Trump.'

The Massachusetts native described how he used to see voting for Democrats as the 'compassionate choice.' But now, his values no longer align with what he calls the 'war-hungry censorship machine.'

Just days before the election, Bach revealed he would be voting 'conservative down the ballot.'

So, usually we talk about a bar or a club or a coffee shop… or some kind of building, at least. But this week we're doing something a little bit other . We're talking about a position of steps.

Yes, you heard that correctly.

But, these weren’t just any set of steps. They were the legendary, and imaginatively titled, Steps that were found in Toronto's gay village.

And to tell us all about them is the writer, speaker, and DEI specialist Michael Bach, who may have recently escaped the cold, cold winters of Canada to live in Palm Springs, but nonetheless maintains that a huge chunk of his heart belongs to Toronto's gay village.

We talk about coming out before you even grasp what gay is, using a fake ID to get in to the bar, and navigating being queer at a boy's boarding school.

Bach/Höft queerPassion

Antwerp Opera - queerPassion comes right from our hearts. We bring inclusion and diversity to three centres of the music sector:

Wiener Konzerthaus Sat. 07. June, 2025, 19:00
Bachfest Leipzig Fr. 13. June, 2025, 17:00
Opera Antwerp's official season opening on 22. August, 2025, 20:00

ĀRT HOUSE 17 proudly joins with local queer community choirs who will warble their heart out in the 11 chorals of our version of Bach's St John's Desire BWV 245* that now has a new libretto by author Thomas Höft. Leaving out all religious connotation we tell four stories of queer suffering from the hour of Bach and from today.
1721, Lagrantinus Rosenstengel was executed in Halberstadt, because he was - as a biological woman - married to a woman. In the 1730s, the pogroms in Utrecht price over 100 lgbtq+ people their lives. But we don't need to stare so far, neither in time nor space.

Thank you all for taking the time and living this moment with us.

In his libretto, however, Höft describes the stories of queer people who are discriminated against or murdered. "I asked myself, where do I, as a queer man, appear in classical music?" Höft told DW. And he instantly realized that the acknowledge was: "Actually, not at all." And that is precisely what he wants to change.
