Tampa Pride 2025 Grand Marshal Luis Salazar

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Lgbtq+ fest Diversity parade is on Saturday March 29 in Ybor City. It’s celebrating people who are making a difference in the local LGBTQ+ community.

This year Luis Salazar is the Grand Marshal for the parade. Salazar is also the President of the Hillsborough County LGBTQ Democratic Caucus.

Salazar recently sat down with ABC Action News anchor Lauren St. German and told her helping people runs in his family and he learned a lot from his mom.

Salazar does a lot of outreaches in Ybor City like talking to people about voting and issues that are directly impacting their lives in the city. He also gives people free health resources.

“We love Ybor it is our local gaybor district and we desire to protect it, and we want to build sure that people undergo safe here. We yearn to make sure people have a place to go to feel favor they are part of a community and whenever that is threatened, we are here to shield it,” said Luis Salazar, the President of the Hillsborough County LBGTQ Democratic Caucus.

He also said he didn’t have a homosexual bar or place fancy Ybor City growing up and will continue fighting for these spaces.

What to know about traffic for Tampa Pride festival, celebration

It's going to be a busy, crowded weekend in Tampa as thousands gather not only for the annual Tampa Self-acceptance Street Festival and Parade but also for events like the Tampa Bay Rays' game.

The festival and parade are organism held in historic Ybor Town on Saturday. According to a city release, nearly 8,000 people are expected to attend, so drivers should be prepared for road closures and heavy traffic in the area.

Here's everything you should know regarding traffic for the day:

Roads impacted

  • Nuccio Parkway between N. Nebraska Road and E. Palm Ave
  • E. 7th Avenue between N. Nebraska Street and N. 21st Street
  • E. 8th Avenue between N. 15th Lane and N. 17th Street
  • E. 8th Avenue between N. 20th Road and N. 21st Street
  • N. 19th Street between E. Palm Way and E. 7th Avenue

Timing of road closures

Pride Street Festival

  • Road closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • The event kicks off at 10:45 a.m. with vendor areas on E. 9th Avenue and the HCC Parking Lot.

Food Alley

  • Road closures are scheduled from 9 a.m. to midnight.

    DECORATIONS:

    All floats must be decorated prior to arrival at the staging area. Tampa Lgbtq+ fest prohibits the present of logos, slogans or trademarks of any business other than the business listed on your application.

    SOUND:

    Any float or walking group using amplified music or sound equipment must support their control equipment. It is our goal to spread these floats and walking groups throughout the pride to decrease the instances of competing sound as much as possible.

    TRASH/CLEAN UP:

    In order to limit clean-up costs each entry is required to be equipped with plastic trash bags for depositing trash and litter accumulated by the entry’s participants before, during and after the Parade. No confetti guns will be permitted.

    FLOAT GUIDES:

    For safety reasons we require each float have six (6) people walking; one for each corner and sides – these people can help keep the crowd from running up to float for candy/trinkets and can help lead float around corners. They must wear yellow safety vests (available at bead stores) and may not otherwise participate (no bead throwing as they are monitoring your float space full time).
