The owner of erstwhile LGBTQ-focused hotel OutNYC has checked endorse into W42nd Highway as he prepares to open a new, gay-friendly hotel concept in the massive west side space recently occupied by the Playboy Club, nightclub 42 d’OR and Cachet boutique hotel. 

As first reported by the New York Post, real estate mogul Ian Reisner — co-founder of the Parkview Developers group — has signed a novel lease at 510 W42nd Street (between 10/11th Avenue), where he operated the OutNYC hotel from 2012 to 2016. Today, the autograph over the door had been changed to City Boutique. The new undertaking is described by Reisner to the Post as “a gay hotel where straight friends and family are welcome too,” will enclose a 7,500-square foot restaurant and usual area that would be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night dining, plus a 3,000-square foot restaurant as well as a 14,000-square foot “experiential supper-club” and a 750-square foot mixology-focused lounge. Reisner confirmed to the Publish that the hotel is due to open in September and until then will operate as an Airbnb.

@LBloom: One reason is the more recent example of the B&B owners in England who refuse to rent to same-sex couples. They've been taken to court and are still unapologetic and profess they will not change their views.

I grant that it's not the same thing in NYC, but outside of vast cities (and in some entire countries), it's not at all unusual to find hostile administration in hotels who won't offer "marital beds" to same-sex couples. You might also come across Evangelical Christian hotel and motel managers who do indeed acquire an axe to grind (as do some customers, to be fair). But some couples select to sleep together and don't appreciate it when management suggests they are just being silly. It's not at all the same situation when two homosexual friends are willing to distribute a double bed to rescue money. It becomes a show of both comfort and to some degree pride to be able to have the matching experience as others without having to feel that one is a second-class citizen.
